Buying Selling Account Safety & trust Dealers

Buying

How do I search for a car?Head to the Cars page and use the filters to narrow things down by make, model, price, year, mileage, fuel type and gearbox. You can also enter your postcode to sort results by distance, so the nearest cars appear first. Every result links straight through to the full listing with photos and the seller's details. What does "DVLA-verified" mean on a listing? It means we've checked the car's registration against official DVLA and DVSA records. Key facts like the make, model, year, fuel type and MOT status are pulled straight from those records rather than being typed in by the seller, so you can trust that the basics line up with the registered vehicle. How do I contact a seller?Open the listing and send a message directly to the seller. It's a straightforward buyer-to-seller conversation, with no call centres or middlemen in the way. Their replies arrive in your in-app messages, which you'll find in your Dashboard. You'll need an account to send and receive messages. Can I see how far a car is from me?Yes. Enter your postcode when searching and we'll work out the distance to each car, so you can focus on the ones within an easy drive. It's handy for weighing up whether a longer trip is worth it for the right car. How do I save a car or a search?Tap the heart on any listing to add it to your favourites, and save a search once you've set your filters so you can run it again in a click. Both live in your Dashboard, so you can pick up where you left off without retyping everything. Is there any fee for buyers? No. Browsing, searching, saving favourites and messaging sellers are all completely free for buyers. There are no booking fees, no buyer's premium and no charges added at any point. The price you agree with the seller is the price you pay.

Selling

How do I list my car?Sign in, head to Sell your car, and enter your registration to get started. We'll pull in the official details for you, then you just add your asking price, mileage, a short description and some photos. Once you're happy, publish it and buyers can start messaging you straight away. Is it really free?Yes. Private sellers can list for free, with up to 3 active cars at a time. There's no listing fee and no commission on the sale, so whatever you agree with the buyer is yours to keep. Selling more than three at once usually points to trade selling, which is what our dealer accounts are for. How does entering my reg fill in the details? When you enter your registration, we look it up against DVLA records and auto-fill the make, model, year, fuel type and other core details. It saves you typing, cuts out mistakes, and means your listing carries our DVLA-verified badge so buyers know the basics are genuine. How many photos can I add?You can add several photos to each listing, and we'd encourage you to make the most of them. Clear shots of the exterior, interior, wheels, dashboard and any wear and tear help your car sell faster and cut down on time-wasting questions. The first photo becomes the main image buyers see in search. How do I edit or remove a listing?Go to your Dashboard, find the listing and choose Edit to update the price, description or photos at any time. To take it down completely, choose Remove. Removing a listing frees up one of your three private-seller slots so you can list another car. How do I mark a car as sold?Once you've done the deal, open the listing from your Dashboard and mark it as sold. That stops new enquiries coming in and frees up the slot for your next car. It's good manners to close off the conversation with any buyers still waiting to hear back, too. Why is there a 3-listing limit for private sellers? The free private-seller plan is for genuine owners selling their own cars, so we cap it at 3 active listings. It keeps the marketplace fair and helps buyers tell private sellers apart from traders. If you regularly sell more than three at a time, a dealer account is the right fit and starts from just £200 a month.

Account

How do I create an account?Choose Register, enter your name, email and a password, and you're in. An account lets you message sellers, save favourites and searches, and list your own car. It's free to sign up, and you only need one account to both buy and sell. I forgot my passwordNo problem. On the login page, use the reset link and enter the email address tied to your account. We'll send you a secure link to set a new password. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder or get in touch at hello@autoland.co.uk. How do I change my details?Open your Dashboard and head to your account settings to update your name, email address or password. Keeping your email current matters, as that's where buyer and seller notifications and any password resets are sent. How do I delete my account? You can close your account from your account settings in the Dashboard. Deleting your account removes your listings and personal details from Autoland. If you'd rather we handled it for you, email hello@autoland.co.uk from your registered address and we'll sort it out. Where are my messages and favourites?Everything lives in your Dashboard. You'll find your in-app messages, saved favourites, saved searches and your own listings all in one place, so you can keep track of conversations and the cars you're interested in whenever you log in.

Safety & trust

How do I avoid scams?Always view the car in person before parting with any money, and be wary of deals that seem too good to be true. Keep your conversations within Autoland's messaging, never wire money to someone you haven't met, and walk away from anyone pressuring you to pay quickly or move off the platform. For the full rundown, read our safety guide. Should I pay a deposit before viewing? No. Never pay a deposit, or any money, before you've seen the car in person. A seller asking for a deposit to "hold" a car you haven't viewed is a classic scam. See the car, check the documents and confirm it's genuine first, then agree payment face to face. How do I report a suspicious listing or user?If something doesn't feel right, email hello@autoland.co.uk with the listing link or the user's details and a quick note on what's worrying you. We take reports seriously and will investigate, removing anything that breaks our rules. Trust your instincts, if a deal feels off, tell us. What checks does Autoland do?We verify every listing's registration against DVLA and DVSA records, so the make, model, year, fuel type and MOT status come from official data rather than the seller's word. It's a strong first layer of trust, but it's no substitute for viewing the car, checking the V5C logbook and history, and inspecting it before you buy. Does Autoland handle payment? No. Autoland connects buyers and sellers, but payment is arranged directly between the two of you. We never take or hold your money. Once you've seen the car and you're happy, settle up in a way that suits you both, a bank transfer made in person is usually the safest route.

Dealers

How much does a dealer account cost?Dealer accounts start from £200 a month, with no per-car listing fees on top. That gives you unlimited stock, direct buyer messaging and the same DVLA-verified badges your customers trust. Get in touch and we'll find the right plan for the size of your forecourt. How is it cheaper than the big platforms? From £200 a month, Autoland is a fraction of what the established platforms charge, where dealer packages can run to around £3,000 a month. We keep things lean and pass the saving on, so you get genuine buyer enquiries without the hefty monthly bill eating into your margins. How do I sign up as a dealer?Get in touch through our contact page or call us on 020 7183 8923, and we'll set up your dealer account and walk you through getting your stock live. We'll talk through your plan, your inventory size and how you'd like to upload your cars. Can I bulk-upload stock?Yes, dealers can get stock live in bulk rather than adding cars one by one. The best approach depends on how you currently manage your inventory, so contact us and we'll help you import your forecourt quickly and keep it in sync.
